Spring is here! Time to…write?

Spring has finally arrived. Hooray! Gone are the days of freezing cold and snowstorms. The weather is warming up (or at least trying to) and the semester is over halfway done. So clearly, now is as good a time as any to start that novel you’ve always thought about writing.

Why would I think this is a good time to write a novel? Because every year in April (and July!), an organization called National Novel Writing Month puts on their Camp NaNoWriMo event. Camp is a spin-off of their main event in November where the challenge is to write a 50,000-word novel in a month. Camp NaNoWriMo lets you set your own word count goals, from 10,000 to 1 million, and you can work on any type of project you choose. Want to write a new novel? Go for it. Edit a piece of previously written work? Absolutely. Need some motivation to get that dissertation going? Here it is! The possibilities are endless.

We still have a few days until April starts (how did it get here so fast?), so now is the perfect time to pick your project, set your goal, and get ready to start writing (or editing or revising, etc). April is almost here, and before you know it, it will be May and time for graduation. Now’s the time to get that project started.
